Field Study #6

Image
Date and Time: Monday, November 27, 2017 (11/27/17), 4:25 Day Length: 9 Hours 20 minutes Temperature: 53 degrees Organisms smelled, felt, heard: I didn't really hear any birds today, I heard/saw a white tail deer rustle through the woods, and I also heard my dog! The trees were creaking, also. There still are all the same trees as before, including hemlock, pine trees, yet they don't have any leaves left on their branches.  Changes: All of the leaves have completely fallen off the trees, leaves are scattered everywhere. There is no more duck weed on the pond, but there of course is leaves. The pond has become more muddy before and many of the plants around me have died, including all the briar bushes.  Present Climate Conditions: Sunny outside, there's a few clouds in the sky, not a lot of wind, fairly warm, mostly silent in the woods.

Date and Time: 11/12/2017 Day Length: 9 hours and 47 minutes Present Climate Conditions: Very cold outside, blowing winds, raining, foggy outside, most of the trees have lost all of their leaves.  Temperature: 39 degrees Organisms smelled, felt, heard: Today, I didn't find too many animals, except for deer. It was too rainy outside for anything to be moving around, and the wind was blowing too hard for anything to be heard. There still are all the pine trees, hemlock trees, etc.  Changes: The trees have almost entirely lost all of their leaves. There is only a small amount of duckweed on the edges of the pond, otherwise, it's completely gone. The temperature has dropped incredibly, and it feels like it's going to freeze soon. The pond has risen due to the vast amounts of rain we've gotten. Leaves are spread out all over, and the earth worms are out today.

Date and Time: 3:45, 10/25/17 Day Length: 10 hours and 44 minutes Present Climate Conditions: Very chilly outside. Today the wind was blowing, but the sun was still out. The weather outside is definitely changing. The ground was muddy and wet from the rainstorm the day before. Leaves were falling from the trees. Temperature: 51 degrees outside Organisms smelled, felt, heard: There was a little bit of duckweed on the pond. There were a few different ducks, there really wasn't as many birds chirping as before. Oak trees, pine trees, hemlock trees, the typical trees are still there. Lots of little worms every where. There was a very earthy smell, due to the rain the night before. Changes: A lot of the leaves have fallen off most of the trees. The ground is covered with leaves everywhere. A few trees were fallen after the rain storm the night before. The level of the pond water, has risen, there isn't as much duckweed on the pond. There's not as many animals as t...

Date: 10/11/17 Time: 3:10 pm (15:10) Present Climate Conditions: Extremely cloudy, very windy outside (wind of 13 mph; max wind speed of 22), the ground was wet (and very muddy) from the earlier rain storm that we had. Very dark, and gloomy outside. Temperature: 58 degrees Organisms smelled, felt, and heard: Again, there are many types of birds, including an owl, two ducks, there was a few lady bugs at the time, there was still duckweed on the pond, but not as much as before (it's slowly going away.) There was moss on the ground, and on some trees. Changes: The leaves on all of the trees, are starting to change colors, that include a peachy and yellow coloring. Otherwise, the leaves are falling completely off, and they're spread across across the ground. These are mainly the yellow leaves. The changes are slowly happening in the trees, behind the pond, in which the sunnier spots, where the trees are completely exposed, the leaves are changing different colors co...

Date: 9/26/17 Time: 6:02 Length of Day: 18:02 hours Temperature:  90 degrees Climate Conditions: Extremely warm outside, with an extreme humidity. In the picture it looks as if it's cloudy, but it was mainly sunny, was spotted clouds outside. It was a little bit windy. Organisms smelled, felt, heard: There was still duckweed lying on the pond. Trees including Oak trees, lots of pine trees, sugar maples, hemlock trees, and so on. There still was a bit of moss on the ground. Lots of different birds that included a woodpecker, mainly robins, a few ducks in the pond, and a few other birds that I was not able to identify. There was a lot of white tail, deer tracks on the ground, including right by the water.  A lot of leaves have fallen from the previous time I was there. There also was a change in the path I walked on to get to the pond; people had been illegally cutting down a few trees on my families property. The trees are now starting to change colors, due to the fall we...
